Tether is an application that allows you to access the Internet on your computer anywhere there is cellular coverage, through your BlackBerry® smartphone. No more searching and paying for costly WiFi hotspots!
Tether was for the Blackberry, but now they have entered beta testing for the Andriod! Though, Google, who runs the app store, has stepped in to the removal of such apps.
“Google enters into distribution agreements with device manufacturers and Authorized Carriers to place the Market software client application for the Market on Devices. These distribution agreements may require the involuntary removal of Products in violation of the Device manufacturer’s or Authorized Carrier’s terms of service.”
But, do as they may. You can still use the Tether App for your Andriod phone. Just follow these few steps below:
1. Install the Tether Application (http://www.tether.com/a/setup.exe) to your computer
2. Install the .APK file (http://dregimbal.com/Tether.apk)to your Andriod.* (For this step, be on your phone for easy install.. don't hassle yourself via USB)
3. Enjoy! Everything else should be self explanatory, if not, oh well.
*I found it much easier just to be on my phones internet and downloading the non-market item without the hassle of hooking up the USB and placing the file in the correct folder.
I didn't go and try this out yet, though I hope it works for you. The .APK file is also included in the setup folder for Tether which you downloaded off their site.
