Getting a new laptop sometime early this year, and suggestions for a fairly decent one around $1000 Canadian so like $800-$900 American?
Requirements are a:
good graphics card
15 inch screen
medium-high end processor
500gb or better HDD (not solid state)

Here's one http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5590440&csid=ITD&body=QA#tabs it has everything your asking for, for less moneyz. I just bought the same model on Wedensday but with a 320gb HDD and i3 core instead (being shipped to me now). If not that one the site has some good deals for just about any really good laptops. :) hope it helps

That is a total steal money wise! Although it was missing a few extra things I was looking for (Graphics Card, 7200rpm drive), its a great place to start.
Thanks spacer!

HP isn't going to be the cheapest, but price wise its still good, and there is a good deal of custimization. A lot of the money can be saved on the software that you can pirate for free.

Look at it this way if your looking for what brand.
HP = Your everyday Mercedes
uhm, lets say you compare that to Sony, thats more of your everyday Ford...
Now, which would you want? High class care or shitty automobile? It also applies for brands in the computer world :p
Ya, you spend more... but you get more xD (From a HP customer)

Bigstack what specs would a laptop from your source have?
It wont be for total gaming, I have a comp for that already with a good graphics card and 23 inch screen :D

If you get an HP just make sure to get a warrenty that lasts more then two years, their laptops have some hidden problems with the motherboards that somehow show up just about two years after purchase. Not sure if the new laptops will have it. (also from an HP customer)

When a problem should arise though, they are good and fast. My HP 27'' a few days after purchase had a blue line down the screen because the monitor was messed up... contacted via email, and they sent me a new one and I return the non-working one... easy xD
